Since the birth of the Podor Rive-Gauche association in 2007, the city is slowly waking up after years of sleep. Podor now offers a re-reading of history through its quay, its old commercial houses and its fort, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The association, which was very active for many years, was for a time on the back burner. It was revived recently with the creation of an ecomuseum of river trade of the past centuries. A few years earlier, in 2005, the revival of navigation on the Bou el-Mogdad had already contributed to reviving exchanges with this landlocked city.
