Created in 1976 on an area of 850 ha, the park has grown to occupy 2,000 ha today. To get there, you have to take the road to Dakar and quickly turn right towards the lighthouse of Gandiol. It is there that the entrance fees are paid. The park, located in the south of this 30 km stretch of land, is covered with birds during the migration period, between December and March. The Tongue offers a sublime spectacle, with these birds coming by thousands: royal terns, brown gulls, pelicans, flamingos... The site is less interesting outside this period, but offers a nice pirogue ride.
