Toubacouta passed, the road seems to carry no more any vehicle whatsoever, so much it is in bad shape. Don't worry, everything is fine a hundred meters further on. From the crossroads of the red road, take a good laterite track for about 13 km, the one that leads to Missirah. A few corrugated iron sheets further on and that's it. As you get closer to the village, you can feel the forest getting thicker. This important and unexploited vegetation contrasts sharply with the north of Saloum. Missirah lies close to a large bolong, and its more than 5,000 inhabitants are a serere and mandingo mix of fishermen and farmers. Fishing is essential here and the port is one of the most important in Senegal. This southern part of Saloum is by far the wildest; the bolongs, large and small, do not have the same appearance, and nature seems sublimated. For another contact... Beware of two things: local sum-sum (alcohol), drink it sparingly, and the djinns, those malicious spirits, not evil at the base, but rather playful if you walk on their shadow! In the middle of the village, there is a beautiful cheese maker, probably a thousand years old, which is more than 30 m in circumference. To get to Missirah de Kaolack, a bush taxi leaves from the bus station before 1pm. Otherwise, take a bush taxi to Toubacouta and from there another to Missirah. In the other direction, a bush taxi leaves Missirah every day early in the morning.
