Mar Lodj is an island located about 15 minutes by motor canoe from Ndangane. In reality, many people consider it a beach, given the few campsites and residents' houses lining the bolong. The village of Mar Lodj is appreciated for its millet granaries, its church, its mass enlivened by the tam-tam on Sunday morning, its market, and above all... its calm and its mangrove vegetation. Difficult not to take one's time there. Anyway, don't rush, what would you have to do next? Ah yes, you will still have to explore Mar Yam and Mar Fafako. The village itself is a little further inland. It's a 10 minute walk. It's hard not to set foot there, but it's hard to stay there for hours, unless you've made solid contacts with specific individuals. There are the inevitable art galleries, a mosque and a new round church, the old one having been converted into a school. Ask to see the giant tom-tom, the one used to communicate between the islands and to announce storms, births or deaths. To get to Mar Lodj, mail canoes leave the village and drop you off at the end of the island for about 300 FCFA. But take your time! You'll have to wait for the pirogue to fill up before you can set sail. Otherwise, renting a pirogue will cost you around 15 000 FCFA. Several hotels offer to pick you up, some for free, ask for information
