About fifty kilometres from Dakar, it is a classic Sunday destination. Before June 1962, it was just an expanse of bush like any other, naked except for a few trees. In one year, a monastery was built there, built the hard way by nine Benedictines from the abbey of Saint-Pierre-de-Solesmes (France). With the monastery came a track, a road, electricity, drilling, a small health centre which had developed into a large dispensary, an orchard and various workshops: carpentry, ironwork, garage. To get to Keur Moussa, take the road to Thiès, after Rufisque, then cross Sébikotane until km 50, turn left towards Kayar
