Altitude : 1 740 m. One of the Afro-Bolivian villages of the Yungas. Friendly welcome. The village lives essentially from the culture of coca. It is located on the road to the Andes, at the Mururata-Illimani pass. The territory was previously occupied by the Tiwanakotas from the end of the5th to the beginning of the 8th century, then by the Incas. On July 25, 1746, the municipality of Irupana was founded by Spanish marquises, attracted by the mining resources of the region, especially silver. During the colonial era, the region of Irupana experienced an important economic boom thanks to its coca production which was exported to La Paz
