At the tip of the peninsula, 25 km from Samaná, Las Galeras is an authentic fishing village untouched by mass tourism. It is reached by a sensational road that passes through numerous hamlets, all along the coast. The Playa Francesa cove (4 km after Samaná) is particularly beautiful, but dangerous. Its waters are perfectly clear. A community of foreigners, including a few French, livens up local tourism. The many beaches in the area are among the most fabulous in the country. there are 3 buses a day to Santo Domingo (with Fermin Asotrapusa, 4h) and regular services to Samaná (Guagua company).
