Travel Guide Monción

With a population of about 40,000, Monción is one of three municipalities in the province of Santiago Rodriguez. The landscapes of wooded hills and pine trees are superb. It is the city of the traditional casabe (cassava cake), the basis of the Indian diet. In salted or sweetened version, it is nowadays flavoured with garlic, pistachio or filled with jam. You can visit the Guanani artisanal production unit at 85 Primera Street. There are many bathing places on the banks of the Mao, Cana and Gurabo rivers where you can take a dip. The Sierra plan has set itself the goal of reforesting the entire region.
