This pretty village with granite houses is built around the puy Saint-Laurent. This commune, which is today also the chief town of the canton, is the result of the meeting of Saint-Mamet, named after an evangelist, with the commune of La Salvetat in 1847. The beautiful gothic church was built in the 14th century and restored in the 17th century. It has a beautiful altarpiece. The church of La Salvetat, rebuilt in the 13th century, was part of a former commandery of the Knights of Malta. With the puy Saint-Laurent (771 m), Saint-Mamet has an exceptional panorama with a complete and grandiose view on the Cantalien massif.
