Away from the tourist invasion, Boca de Yuma is a haven of peace. It's also a cul-de-sac, as the recently paved road ends at the mouth of the Yuma River. The village ends in a small cliff overlooking the sea. All is quiet here. The sound of the surf punctuates the life of the fishing community, while the inhabitants chat quietly outside their doors and children play in the deserted street where dogs and pigs bask in the sun. In the evening, the local "bar-terrazza" comes to life. The beer and rum flow freely, and the men play pool to merengue tunes.
