At the exit of Dominicus, the road turns into a track and leads to the Parque Nacional del Este (recently renamed Parque Nacional Cotubanamá), which is 420 km² in size, and is home to a variety of flora and fauna, including 144 species of birds (11 endemic to the region, such as the crowned dove). This park is known to be the most important archaeological center of the Taino civilization. We will also discover the natural swimming pool which makes the pride of the region: the sea is not very deep and of an incredible color. It is the place that the groups of excursion choose to make an aperitif pause before the crossing for the island Saona.
