This adorable little fishing village has become the terminal for catamaran, boat and speedboat cruises that head for the island of Saona, less than an hour offshore, every day. Spared for a long time by the tourist agitation, Bayahibe has seen the arrival of large all-inclusive hotel complexes: the coast is now punctuated by these large complexes that pour their floods of vacationers. Bayahibe has of course lost in authenticity and charm, but the village has also gained in animation and social life. The beach remains magnificent, with its turquoise sea as calm as a lake on which floats a flock of colorful boats.
