A former fishing village on the Moder and Rhine rivers, Betschdorf saw its activity evolve with the arrival of the German Knoetchen in 1586. He brought with him stoneware pottery skills whose success and tradition have endured ever since. Other craftsmen arrived from the Rhineland in the 18th century, reinforcing this local heritage. The crockery produced is usually painted with blue motifs on a grey background. In this delightful village, Alsatian half-timbered houses line the main street. You'll be delighted to visit the small Pottery Museum and the village's many craftsmen, who sell a wide range of pretty souvenirs.
