Gros-Morne is an agriculturally-oriented town, set in a theater of greenery against the backdrop of the landforms that evoke its namesake. Originally, it and Le Robert formed a single district dependent on La Trinité, before becoming a parish in 1743, then a commune in 1837. Gros-Morne is an authentic, unspoilt Martinique that is gradually opening up to tourism, and is home to a large number of musicians, artists and sports enthusiasts. The interior of the Notre-Dame-de-la-Visitation church is well worth a visit, as is a stopover at the Habitation Saint-Etienne to recharge your batteries in the garden of rare essences and taste the rum.
