This town of 9,500 inhabitants is located on the old road linking Cayenne to Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni. The town offers the aspect of an old village with its wooden houses and its atmosphere without artifice. Mana has an original past, marked successively by the influence of the congregation of Saint-Joseph-de-Cluny and by the gold rush. It is almost a must to come and see the moving spectacle of leatherback turtles laying eggs on the beach of Hattes in Yalimapo. We are here in Galibi country. Today, these Galibis are mainly grouped in the village of Awala-Yalimapo (20 km from Mana).
