Founded in 1863, the Bonne Mère distillery is a key reference in the world of traditional West Indian rum. It boasts an impressive cellar of almost 10,000 oak barrels, one of the largest in the French overseas territories.
Opened to the general public for the first time just a few months ago, you can now visit this industrial site in an immersive experience, where every stage of production is revealed to you. From the arrival of the raw materials to the distillation process, everything is brought to light to help you discover the secrets of this ancestral know-how. The eco-responsible aspect of the distillery, a pioneer in this field, is also at the heart of this 1h30 tour.
The distillation museum plunges you into 160 years of history. You'll discover emblematic objects, including the old railway bridge used to transport sugar cane, and a collection of copper distillation columns that bear witness to the know-how of yesteryear.
