300 years ago, indigo was grown and processed on Marie-Galante and in the Caribbean. Pierre is keen to preserve and develop this long-forgotten know-how on his native island by setting up an industry. This enthusiast will teach you the history of the plant he cultivates, as well as its virtues and the traditional fabric-dyeing techniques he passes on during his workshops. un personnage haut en couleur et une couleur riche en histoire
Pas évident de trouver l'atelier de l'indigo à la sortie de Grand Bourg. Il vaut mieux téléphoner avant de passer pour être sûr de rencontrer Pierre ! Revenu de métropole au pays pour perpétuer une des identités de Marie Galante antérieure à la canne, celle de l'indigo. Cette plante rapportée d'Inde était une vraie industrie au XVIIème siècle. Pierre connait l'histoire de la plante, il explique comment la faire macérer pour en tirer ce bleu profond et comment teindre ensuite un T-shirt ou tout autre linge. On passe un bon moment ici, instructif et original, en bordure de mer.

il faut s'arrêter à l'Indigo si on va à Marie-Galante. c'est authentique , original , beau dans un lieu original et un merveilleux accueil .Bravo !
