The well-protected bay of this pretty fishing port has long attracted sailors and freebooters. Coming from Pointe-Noire by road or by boat, the view of the town is superb. From the northern exit, as far as Caféière, the road along the coast invites you to make a few stops at the Gadet viewpoint. At Ziotte, a stony, wooded track leads through a strip of coastal forest and along an inland lake to the beach. Grande-Anse is one of Guadeloupe's largest and most beautiful beaches. Between Ferry and Deshaies, the coast of pebbles and rocks is less grandiose. Nearby, the beach at Petite-Anse spreads out its beautiful light-grey sand.
