Surrounded by its neighbors Basse-Terre, Saint-Claude and Vieux-Habitants, the town of Baillif, integrated into the National Park of Guadeloupe, still shows various testimonies of its past, between traces of the Amerindian occupation, military remains of the fighting between France and England for the possession of Guadeloupe. Of its sugar past, only the Bologna distillery remains today, recognized among the most famous of the archipelago. Overlooking the national road, the church of Saint-Dominique was built on the site of the old place of worship, of which only the bell tower has been preserved.
