Located at a moderate altitude, Séez is a small town with a population of approximately 2,400. Its picturesque center lies at an altitude of 900 meters, nestled in the heart of a mountain range reaching nearly 3,000 meters. Its Latin name, Sextum, testifies to its historical importance by indicating the position of the sixth milestone on the Roman road from Vienna to Milan over the Petit-Saint-Bernard pass. Séez has been shaped by its rich history and culture, once being the seat of the County of Val d'Isère. Today, Séez occupies a strategic place, close to famous ski resorts such as Les Arcs, Tignes and Sainte-Foy Tarentaise.
