The Massiac region, wedged between the Cézallier and the Planèze, enjoys a southern microclimate. At an altitude of 550 meters, the region is home to vineyards, apple orchards and flower-growing areas. You can visit the Romanesque chapel of Sainte-Madeleine or marvel at the site of Saint-Victor overlooking the town. Classed as a stopover village on the A75 motorway, and the gateway to the Cantal region, Massiac boasts a wide choice of hotels and restaurants. The hazelnut macaroon is the local specialty. Every autumn, the locals organize an apple festival, during which you can taste cider and tarts, and visit the old cultivation terraces (Palhas).
