The history of this small village abounds in authenticity and know-how lost over time. This sumptuous valley can be discovered like a book, where the passage of time is but a chapter in these magical places. Mineralism, prehistory and legends, typical hamlets and religious buildings are still combined with the present. At Bonneval-sur-Arc, history has come to a standstill. Enter the village on foot and let yourself imagine the traditions of this pastoral world. 247 inhabitants at over 1,700 m altitude. A harsh and rugged land, formerly a land of avalanches, it is softened by the warmth of its welcome and its enchanting beauty. It's up to you to tame it! The first ski lift was inaugurated in 1968. Bonneval, a listed site, is one of the most beautiful villages in France. It has preserved its old dry-stone dwellings covered with lauzes roofs, large slates weighing almost a ton stacked one on top of the other. On the balconies, dung was dried for fuel. The hamlet of Bonneval, the listed site of l'Ecot, is only alive in summer. Discover it and its 12th-century chapel on foot. The Skibus and Allo P'tit Bus provide free service to all the villages in Haute-Maurienne Vanoise. The Skibus runs between Bramans and Bonneval, Termignon and Aussois, and Bramans and Le Cerney (Domaine du Planay). Out of season, the Allo P'tit Bus provides the same services, but reservations must be made by 6pm the day before.
