Beaufort stands majestically in a mountainous landscape with panoramic views of Mont Blanc. This land, shaped by people's attachment to their region, boasts harmonious, colorful mountain pastures. At an altitude of almost 750 m, Beaufort covers one of the largest areas in Savoie, with some twenty scattered hamlets. A stay in Beaufort means enjoying the flower-filled banks of the Doron, crossed by covered wooden bridges and stone humpback bridges. The old town of Beaufort, concentrated around the church of Saint-Maxime, is picturesque with its narrow, sloping cobbled streets lined with tall, often century-old houses, opening onto charming squares. Among the forests and green slopes is Arêches, a ski resort in the commune of Beaufort, with two distinct ski areas: the Grand Mont, accessible by chairlift from the village of Arêches, and Le Planay, a resort 3 km from Arêches. Arêches is an authentic village that vibrates to the sound of herd bells and the activities of sports enthusiasts. Thanks to its remarkable snow cover at an altitude of 1,080 m, it attracts skiers from all horizons, as well as ski touring enthusiasts. Despite the influx of tourists, Arêches has retained its traditional architecture and unique character. In spring, herds of Tarine cows can often be seen on their way to the mountain pastures.
