At the foot of the Monts du Lyonnais, Thurins spreads out, surrounded by wide plateaus undulating by the Garon and its tributaries, orchards at low altitude and cereal crops and livestock areas at high altitude. Capital of fruit and raspberries, of which it produces 300 tons each year, Thurins is home to some 80 fruit growers. Around the new square, vestiges of the medieval past of the town are visible. The church, dating from 1835, contains stalls from the Abbey of Cluny and two 16th century bas-reliefs. Behind the wall bordering the square stands the Château Dugas, a 16th century residence
