Since the 12th century, Thizy has been an important commercial place and remained so until the beginning of the 20th century. At the same time, in the 14th century, its industrial specificity began when the Tricaud family founded the art and craft of futaines. At its peak, at the end of the 19th century, the town had more than 15,000 looms in several factories. Flannel, coutil, fleece, blankets, then gingham when Brigitte Bardot made it fashionable were produced here, before the crisis hit the textile industry hard. Thizy-les-Bourgs preserves an interesting heritage, which deserves to be discovered.
