Situated at the gateway to the Monts du Lyonnais, at an altitude of 750 meters, it is one of the Rhône's largest communes. Like many others in the Lyonnais region, it bears the imprint of the Roman Empire, visible in a number of localities (Croix-Forez, Fontfroide, le Suc, la Chèvre...). Occupation by the Segusiaves, a Celtic people, also left its mark: Vaudragon dolmen, Mathiole rock... Reunited with the kingdom of France in 1312, the region became a crossroads for pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostela. Milk, cheese, red fruit and vegetables are sold at markets and sometimes on the farm.
