As its name seems to indicate, the village of Saint-Jacques-des-Arrêts was for a long time, and still is sometimes, a stage on the road to Santiago de Compostela, after Cluny, on the way to Le Puy-en-Velay. Its church, a stopover for pilgrims, tells the story of James the Lesser in 4 monumental paintings by Jean Fusaro. 15 other works by the Lyon artist are installed. An audio-guided tour makes modern pictorial art accessible to all audiences. A ruined tower in the hamlet of Charmes reminds us that a feudal castle once dominated the valley. Hiking and trail paths are accessible all year round.
