The village is located on the eastern side of the Luère mountains and dominates the Lyon basin from the top of its 500 m high. Its territory is divided between woods and crops. The castle, near the church, bears witness to the medieval past of the commune, when Pollionnay was a seigniory. Its land, formerly devoted to the vine, is now used for milk and fruit production. Pollionnay is surrounded by ancient hamlets such as Larny and its Romanesque chapel. Mentioned as early as the 13th century, it was restored in the 17th century and preserves the Romanesque architecture of Lyon, the vaulted apse with a flat chevet and its small bay. The bell tower and the cross of the cemetery of the XVIIth century deserve attention.
