When dreams come true, it's even better to share them. Inspired by a song by the late Alain Bashung, Mademoiselle Rêve certainly fits into this category of addresses to share for a good evening out. Right next to the Bourse du Travail, a quiet terrace, a cosy room and a sofa where you can rediscover the pleasure of talking while sharing a few glasses of wine selected by lovers of good things, house cocktails and tasty platters made from quality produce. A smiling welcome from an adorable team, guaranteed good humor, conviviality and good music too. Live your sweetest dreams.

THE STAR FERRY

Beer bar €€

The Star Ferry, a tribute to a ferry sailing on the side of Hong Kong. On Quais du Rhône, the Star Ferry is typically a seasonal address, opening with the sun, closing with the first cold and big storms in summer. From the very first sunny days, beer flows like water in what it's agreed to call a beer garden, with a choice of 80 bottled beers and no less than 12 draught ones! A mandatory terrace to sit and enjoy the homemade specialty, burgers. Sandwiches that are themed, even exotic, composed of honourable ingredients, but with meat always overcooked to our taste. Although the fries are crispy to eat, chewing the burger can be complicated. Come on, take a beer to get it through… No desserts, except ice-creams. At the end of the day, the burger/beer comes back at about twenty euros, for a hardly adequate quality and a service that is extended (it's not easy to satisfy the desires of the entire terrace on a summer evening) but remains smiling. A half-tone address that allows you to spend pleasant moments on the banks of the Rhône.

HOPPER

Beer bar

Hopper rhymes with beer. And that's just as well, because this handsome bar at the Saxe-Gambetta crossroads, conveniently located just off the metro, has all the hallmarks of a brewery and pub, with its decor of copper pipes, vats and graffiti. It's a cosy place to enjoy one of the 18 draught beers or the 20 or so bottled beers that take you on a journey around the globe. Home-made smoothies and pressed juices to quench your thirst without alcohol. Don't drink on an empty stomach: pizzas, salads, burgers, croque-monsieur with truffled ham, seasonal platters and daily specials. An urban refuge where you can recharge your batteries.

Desire for new experiences? Welcome to the workshop, subtitled "My Laboratory Bistro" by Pascal (you don't forget Nathalie, delicious). This wine bar is not just a pretext for raising the sound at the blind-test, playing the coinche, discussing controversial themes, making new friends, admiring Pascal's new expo… or tasting the kitchen of the "one night chef"; It is also a genuine wine bar where you can taste some very carefully selected nectars with a few tapas of choice in a very successful retro decor.

LE FER À CHEVAL

Bar and caf
3.5/5

In the tradition of Lyon's comptoirs, Le Fer à Cheval has a number of remarkable features. The first is that it opened its U-shaped counter, hence the name, in 1970 at the entrance to Les Halles de Lyon, which was not yet called Paul Bocuse, a year before it even opened to serve construction workers. A quality bar and snack bar in a place where everyone, workers and visitors, mingle around the 360° open counter. A friendly team, eager to welcome you with a glass of wine or a delicious croque-monsieur, one of the company's specialities. The "village square" of Les Halles.

GNOME ET RHÔNE

Lyon-style art de vivre to get us through the day. Saxe goes to Gnome et Rhône, which used to be an aircraft engine brand before manufacturing motorcycles in Lyon. Mechanical enthusiasts and everyone else head for Gnome et Rhône, a 100% Lyonnaise address created some thirty years ago. Part pub, part bar, this French-style café has a terrace overlooking the avenue, a bar and air-conditioned rooms with a quirky atmosphere, just like this cabinet of curiosities. Good beers, but not only, with a cuisine more refined than you might think. Blind-test evenings, DJs, match broadcasts on giant screens. Take off your couch for this "Saxy" address.
