At the foot of the Pilat mountains, the village of Longes has been classified as a "remarkable village" by the Rhône departmental tourism committee and has been awarded a 2-flower classification. A picturesque village made up of schist houses, typical of the Jarez. Legend has it that the name Longes comes from the villa longa received by the giant Longus for services rendered to Julius Caesar during the winter of 53-52 BC.
