Lachassagne belonged initially to the barons of Oingt, vassals of the counts of Forez. In 1662, Lachassagne passed into the hands of Pierre Dassier, squire, adviser and secretary to the king. By letters patent of Louis XIV, he obtained the creation of a4th fair in Lachassagne, which was erected in barony.
