Under this name hides a charming village, at the foot of a 12th century castle still proudly camped on its rocky promontory. The precision "the mines" comes from the exploitation of copper pyrite which existed since the Middle Ages. The name of Jacques Coeur, the great treasurer of Charles VII, is attached to Chessy since it was he who developed the mines from 1445. From its past as a castle town, small streets remain at the foot of the 13th century keep, the remains of the ramparts and a superb church with a 15th century bell tower. From its mining prosperity, one can admire some beautiful Renaissance houses.
