This small town, on the border of the Pierres Dorées and the Haute-Azergues, marks the hinge of the Beaujolais wine region and the Beaujolais forest. Two towers remind us of the Lords of Beaujeu, while the 16th century wooden market hall was rebuilt identically by the Compagnons du Tour de France. The church is worth a visit for its paintings and statues, as well as two 15th century stained glass windows. A short walk to the Chalosset bridge will reveal some beautiful ironwork. From Chamelet, you can go to the forest of Brou: 410 ha straddling the Haut-Beaujolais and the Haute-Azergues welcome you
