The name of this commune with about 40 hamlets could come from the verb aviser, to look. Indeed, because of its altitude (from 433 m to 933 m), the commune offers many rather exceptional points of view. Two orientation tables allow these observations: one, below the town on the road leading to Sainte-Foy-l'Argentière, the other at the place called Les Courtines, the highest point. Stroll on the aqueduct path. Aveize is located on the watershed: to the north, the Orjolle flows into the Mediterranean while to the south the Orzon joins the Atlantic.
