At the gates of Lyon, Amplepuis offers an interesting situation to city dwellers in search of greenery, especially thanks to its station. The town, which has an interesting heritage, is best known for the textile industry (weaving, manufacture of fancy fabrics, fraying of silk waste, wool blankets, etc.) that it was home to during the 19th century. A rich heritage to be found in the Barthélémy Thimonnier Museum, the sewing machine and cycle, installed in the chapel of the former hospital Amplepuis and its neo-Gothic style chapel. Close to the town centre, the Clos du Crêt park offers shaded walking paths and a lake.
