A remarkable site at the hinge of Forez and Du. From the Valla Bridge of the th Century, whose three Gothic arches, reinforced with finger, cross the course of the Aix, the view is seductive on the replètes towers of the priory, topped with roof cones. Above the green meadows, the village, built on a clay terrace, extends north of the monastic buildings. We are on an old route of communication, the Grand Route du Forez which led Puy-en-Velay to Nevers. A milliaire, visible at the bedside of the church, date of Emperor Trajan's reign. The priory, affiliated to Cluny, housed a dozen monks who observed the rule of Saint Benedict. The Prior, lord of the place, was a servant of Comte du Forez. There was a lull during the Hundred Years War to fortify the village, whose inhabitants had to take custody of their lord. Once the Charles VII door is crossed, a sense of serenity invades the visitor. Since the th century, the old church Saint-Julien has been transformed into a dwelling house, but the priory occupies the entire south slope, regulating the Benedictine church of the th century. Its the, a true intimate courtyard, lies in the beautiful Renaissance façade of the Hotel du Prieur. A small, peaceful village to rejuvenate with the values of the past.
