The Atelier-Musée du Chapeau in Chazelles-sur-Lyon is dedicated to the preservation and transmission of the hat-making trade. A restored former factory, it traces the history of this town, which had 28 factories and 2,500 workers in the 1930s. Guided tours show the machines in operation and the associated trades, such as milliners and gilders. The fashion gallery displays 400 hats from the Middle Ages to today's top designers. A workshop perpetuates this know-how, with a rich collection of 4,000 pieces.
