Among the beautiful villages around Saint-Flour, Chaliers stands out for its exceptional site, a rocky promontory overlooking the curves of the Truyère. It was distinguished in 2016 by a presentation of its amenities at the Venice Architecture Biennale. The church of Saint-Michel, probably dating from the 11th century, a mixture of Romanesque and Gothic styles, became one of the possessions of the Chaise-Dieu. The presbytery, built in the 18th century, is remarkable for its carved stone door frame. Chaliers entered the history when, from 20 to 26 June 1380, Bertrand du Guesclin made the siege before the village. Chaliers is worth a visit
