Auzers is located at the eastern edge of the Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Nature Park. With less than 150 inhabitants, it is a small town whose population has declined in particularly drastic proportions during the last century: there were indeed 1,000 inhabitants counted here in 1911. Auzers is home to a magnificent medieval castle listed as a historical monument. It has belonged to the same family for over 600 years. Built in 1364 and burnt down during the Hundred Years' War, it was rebuilt between 1470 and 1510. It is part of the historic route of the Auvergne castles and can be visited from Easter to All Saints' Day
