This very charming little medieval town of 600 inhabitants, located along the Rhône and the Viarhôna cycle route, enhances its heritage and literary history around a castle and a church. The Château de Brangues (14th and 18th centuries), bought by Paul Claudel in 1927, and its park, which houses the writer's tomb, are open to the public. The village church dates back to 1847. It was destroyed and then rebuilt following the events that inspired Stendhal's novel The Red and the Black. In the village, the Claudel-Stendhal Exhibition Centre has been presenting the village of Brangues, Stendhal and the Berthet affair since 1998, as well as Paul Claudel and his last years in Brangues. Stamped Literature Village, present in the Claudel-Stendhal Exhibition Centre, annual temporary exhibitions and events. The Book Market, every 3rd Sunday in July. The Youth Book Festival Red Cherry Black Cherry Raven Red every 1st Sunday in December.
