With the construction of the Chartreuse de Mélan in the 13th century, many craftsmen settled and developed this village at the confluence of the Giffre and the Foron. Today, concerts and exhibitions regularly enliven the monastic church and its cloister, while the market of local products invades the banks of the Foron. A stroll through the village allows you to discover its heritage: the old town with its Renaissance style, the rue des Arcades, the old bridge, the 16th century chapel of Sainte-Anne, the 18th century fountain, the 19th century church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste with its monumental carillon. With no less than 44 bells, it is the first carillon of Haute-Savoie
