Built on the Roman route linking Geneva to Turin, Faverges keeps interesting traces of its long history. Its thirteenth century castle occupied a strategic position at the border of Geneva County with that of Savoie. Dominated by a large round round round tower with a «new», the dungeon of the lords of Faverges, visible by far, is visited. As for the castle, in the courtyard of historic monuments, it became "chateau chateau" in 1922 and was set up in the center of meetings and seminars. It is now home to a butterfly museum. South of Lake Annecy, at the gates of the Bauges Natural Park, the country of Faverges looks mainly towards the lake, at its source, between Annecy's cluse and comb of Savoy. It brings together seven municipalities, including Val de Chaire (merging Marlens and Cons-Sainte-Colombe), Giez, Saint-Ferréol, Lathuile, Chevaline, Doussard and Talloires-Montmin. Between lake and mountains, Faverges does not lack charm, the time for a stay to discover its natural, cultural and industrial heritage because the city is an important industrial and industrial center from the Middle Ages thanks to the natural resources of iron, coal and copper of its surrounding mountains. From now on, we can go through a «road of urban heritage», developing the history of history and the know-how that have ensured the reputation of the commune where a pleasant local market takes place every Wednesday morning. To note, Faverges merged with the village of Seythenex known for its small altitude station of the Sambuy, its cave and its cascade, to become the new commune of Faverges-Seythenex belonging to the community of municipalities of the Sources of Lac d 'Annecy in the country of Faverges.
