Travel Guide Sallenôves

On the edge of the forest, on the heights (448 m), here is a charming little village which took the name of Sallenôves, in the 18th century, in homage to the lords of Sallenove - whose castle was located on the commune of Marlioz (val des Usses) opposite the village. They helped to rebuild the village, which was almost destroyed by a fire: it was then called Cheptonnex and served as a stopover for travellers, merchants and pilgrims. Today it belongs to the community of communes Fier et Usses. You can visit the former Cistercian abbey of Bonlieu, transformed into a farm, the old village and the castle, thanks to the dynamic association Les Amis de Sallenôves, which promotes and shares the history of its heritage.
