Le Reposoir, at the intersection of the D119 and D4, is located in the Béol valley, between the Aravis and Bargy mountain ranges. This small village of 500 inhabitants owes its name to the nearby Carthusian monastery of Reposoir, founded in 1151 by Jean d'Espagne. This very beautiful religious complex has been occupied since 1932 by a Carmelite convent which gathers about twenty nuns. The main road (D4) which cuts the village in two leads, 7 km to the south, to the Colombière pass (altitude 1,618 m). This pass is one of the favorite starting points for hikers who wish to explore the neighboring peaks, especially those of the Bargy chain or the Almet massif, or even the Aravis.
