With a surface area of 73 km2 and 25 inhabitants per km2, Glières-Val-de-Borne is both the largest and the least densely populated commune of Faucigny-Glières. It is located at an altitude of 591 to 2,408 m - a sign of a great variety of landscapes! This pretty rural mountain commune is also the latest to be created, as it was created by the merger of the communes of Petit-Bornand-les-Glières and Entremont on January1, 2019. On the road that leads from Grand-Bornand to the Glières or to Bonneville (in the direction of Chamonix), one crosses the Etroits gorge and the fierce Borne gorges, to discover the restful Faucigny valley with, first, the village of Entremont, then Petit-Bornand-les-Glières. A preserved, sunny site, with green pastures surrounded by forests and mountains. Located on both sides of the Borne valley, the river that runs through its center, the commune has a strong historical heritage - notably around the powerful Entremont abbey and around the events that took place on the Glières plateau in 1944 - and an exceptional natural heritage. The Glières plateau also has its own Nordic Domain. For the Bargy range, which is home to the highest point of Faucigny-Glières (the Jallouvre peak at 2,408 m), go hiking towards the Lessy lake, undoubtedly the most beautiful natural site in the area, accessible thanks to several hikes of varying difficulty. Between history and nature, Glières-Val-de-Borne offers an ideal destination to recharge your batteries.
