Museum with a fine arts collection, covering the history of man and the arts from regional prehistory to contemporary art.

Founded in 1850, the Musée de Valence has been housed since 1911 in the former episcopal palace, which retains many traces of its past: a 12th-century fortified tower, a 15th-century ogival gallery and painted ceilings from the 15th and 17th centuries. Renovated and enlarged in 2013, the museum's collections cover almost 4,000 m². They provide a broad panorama of human history and the arts, from regional prehistory to contemporary art. A very interesting, well thought out museum that gives a pleasant view of various and sometimes old collections (the impression of a curiosity cabinet). Used to museums, I still find the full fare a little high, annoying quickly forgotten when you discover the antique collections in particular.
