The origins of the village date back to Roman times. After defeating the Allobroges, the Romans set up camp on the hillside: the future slopes of the Hermitage! The good wine from the hills, exported to Paris and abroad, established the reputation of Tain, renamed Tain-l'Hermitage in 1920. The name resonates with wine and chocolate lovers! Every last weekend in February, the wine fair attracts over 80 winemakers and numerous exhibitors of regional gourmet products. For the rest of the year, you'll find a host of fine restaurants and wine shops, as well as the Cité du Chocolat, another pillar of local gastronomy.
