A village at the gateway to Provence with a turbulent history, Rochegude long depended on two seigneuries: one from the Comtat Venaissin, the other from the Dauphinois. Today, although part of the Drôme region, it is only a stone's throw from the Vaucluse and its papal enclave. In addition to the château, now renovated as a Relais & Châteaux hotel-restaurant, the village has preserved its medieval Notre-Dame des Aubagnans church, fortified in the 14th century. Rochegude is home to numerous winegrowers and olive oil producers. The town has undergone considerable expansion. 600 inhabitants in 1968, nearly 1,600 today. So it's safe to say it's a great place to live.
