Ostwald is bounded by the River Ill to the east and the motorway to the south. The village was built in a heterogeneous fashion around a historic town center and two residential districts. Ostwald has 38 hectares of forest, divided between the Niederwald forest to the north and the Nachtweid forest to the east. Part of the Nachtweid forest has been landscaped, with a fitness trail, botanical path and acrobatic park. The Point d'Eau cultural hall offers a varied program of events and shows. Ostwald is also home to several gravel pits, which are still in operation.
