The site was highly prized in the 13th century by the Princes of Orange before it became part of the county of Grignan de Provence. It is ideally situated in the Drôme Provençale, between the AOC Grignan-les-Adhémar vineyards and large parcels of truffle growing land. It is the perfect place to organize regular festivities, including gastronomic meals with music. Montségur-sur-Lauzon is home to a castle built in the 10th century and 4 charming chapels. One can also observe on a wall of the ramparts on the south side, a seven-pointed star of 3.50 m in diameter, a tribute to the Provençal poets of the félibrige, in particular Frederic Mistral
